The award ceremony to National Ten Outstanding Young Jurists was held on May 4th in Beijing Meng Jianzhu, politburo member and secretary of the central political and law commission and the minister of ministry of public security, the chief justice of the Supreme People's Court and the chief attorney of the Supreme People's Procuratorate meet the newly elected National Ten Outstanding Young Jurists.
Professor Liu Yanhong delivered a passionate speech in the award ceremony. She said that National Ten Outstanding Young Jurists was the greatest honor in legal circles and it was also a dream for all legal researchers. She explained that it was based on the support from SEU and her colleagues, students and relatives that she finally made her dream come true. She said that the contribution and hard work of legal researchers is needed in the process of ruling of law in China.
The program of National Ten Outstanding Young Jurists, which is organized by China Law Society, have elected 70 outstanding young jurists from 1995.
Professor Liu Yanhong is the dean of law school, who is also the academic leader of criminal law, doctoral tutor, head of the academic committee of law school. Meanwhile, Professor Liu serves as director the for the Criminal Law Research Association of China Law Society, vice president of the Jiangsu Law Society, legal advisor for the standing committee of Jiangsu’s NPC and procuratorate. Professor Liu was selected in the program of the “New Century Excellent Talents” of Ministry of Education in 2009 and got the title of Young Leading Scientists in the program of “333 High-level Personnel Training Project” in Jiangsu Province. Her masterpiece-- Substantive Criminal Law Concept won the first prize of the “Humanities and Social Science Research Achievement in College”, which is the first time to win the first prize for SEU. What’s more, Professor Liu also won the title of “Ten Outstanding Young Jurists” in Jiangsu Province and gained several academic awards in her career.
