On the evening of November 30, 2016, Prof. Wu Handong, a well-known jurist and director of the Intellectual Property Research Center of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, came to our school and gave a speech entitled Driven development and intellectual property strategy in the Humanities Lecture Hall of Jiulonghu Campus of Southeast University.  Professor Zhou Youyong, the vice president of Southeast University and Prof. Liu Yanhong, Dean of the law school attended the lecture together with all the teachers and students of the law school. Prof. Shi Jianhui, the Director of the Department of Civil and Commercial Law, served as the guest of honor.

First of all, Prof. Wu Hantong proposed the innovative economic development mode of RCEP triggered by Trump, which will replace TPP and G20, and proposed that the IPR protection is the standard of the international economic and trade system, which is the basic prerequisite for China's innovation and development. Then Professor Wu elaborated on the international development trend of intellectual property and China's strategic choice, global competition and the implementation of intellectual property strategy. Professor Wu pointed out that China's intellectual property strategy breakthrough lies mainly in the patent war and brand warfare, to take the industrial development strategy and integrated operational strategy. Professor Wu concluded that China's development must focus on the brand-centric intellectual property development strategy and patented intellectual property strategy for the operation.

Professor Shi Jianhui spoke highly of the academic level of Prof. Wu Handong. Professor Shi briefly reviewed the era of neglect of intellectual property rights and considred that the development of intellectual property rights is a sign of the country to mature, to permanent production. China has now recognized the importance of intellectual property rights and began to strengthen intellectual property protection.
