Professor Wang Yi, a famous civil jurist, has visited Law School of Southeast University and gave an excellent lecture named “Analysis of Legal Technology and Value Judgment of the General Rules of Civil Law”. As the general secretary of China Civil Law Society, professor Wang introduced the process and thoughts when formulating the General Rules of Civil Law. Professor Xiao Bing hosted the lecture.

As the precaution of the analysis, professor Wang divided problems of civil law into pure problems of civil law, and general problems of civil law, depending on if the conclusion of discussion was basing on the design of civil rules. On the bases of this frame, professor Wang analyzed legal technology and value judgment of the General Rules of Civil Law by examples. He pointed out that value judgment mattered most in making a successful civil code. It is the core of lawmaking quality as well.

At last professor Wang concluded that we must firstly find consensus which people shared, and on the basis of that choose our legal technology and make our value judgment, finally make our own civil code. Foreign existing civil codes can never be the standards of our civil code. We are not deliberately to be different from others, but there is no wrong to be different if our consensus is different at first.

At the end of the lecture, professor Wang answered students’ questions in detail, and obtained warm applause.
