On October 29 and 30, professor Gote-Sebastian Hok came to our law school to make two speeches---International Engineering Contract Law Under the Vision of Civil Law. The lecture was chaired and interpreted by associate professor Dai Qingkang.
Under the background of “One Belt One Road”, more and more engineering enterprises in China actively implement the international strategy to participate in international market competition. International construction contract, an important part of international trade in services and international trade in technology, is an important way of international economic and technological cooperation.
In the first day, professor Hok analyzed solution when it referred to the conflict of law in the contractor's location, construction site and the court in the owner’s location from the perspective of private international law, that is, how to choose the governing law to settle disputes.
In the second day, professor Hok illustrated the difference between civil law and common law. After that, professor Hok compared the different versions of the Fidic contracts, and put forward the equitable risk allocation mechanism, the feasible and effective dispute resolution mechanism and other contract concepts in Fidic.
This lecture makes Chinese and foreign outstanding jurists to express their ideas, makes teachers and students to improve the level of research and teaching, and promotes the internationalization of our law school.
