On 9th of June, 2018, The Artificial Intelligence and the New Age of Chinese Law seminar sponsored by Peking University Law School was held in Peking University. Associate Professor Wang Lusheng was invited to attend the conference and made a presentation entitled The Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Judicial Applications Technical Obstacles.
During the report, Associate Professor Wang Lusheng pointed out that in the new era of the “wisdom court” construction, big data and artificial intelligence technologies were integrated into the four major application scenarios of serving the public, service case trials, service judgment enforcement, and service justice management. On this basis, Associate Prof. Wang Lusheng further pointed out that from the current practice across the country, case recommendation, sentencing assistance, and deviation warning were the most typical applications of big data and artificial intelligence, but they were viewed from the technical path of application development. In the current and future period, the development of big data and artificial intelligence technology would face technical obstacles such as map construction, plot extraction, case identification, model training, and sentencing prediction.
The conference attracted a number of experts and scholars from scientific research institutions and judicial practice systems such as Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Zhejiang University, Sichuan University, Southeast University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, State Intellectual Property Office, and Beijing Higher People's Court. The delegates participated in a multi-level and high-level meeting. The attending of the meeting by Associate Professor Wang Lusheng was not only an affirmation of the achievements of the Judiciary Big Data Base in recent years, but also meant the Judicial Big Data Base of our Institute. The influence in related fields is gradually expanding.
