On 16th of June, 2018, the 2018 Academic Conference of the Japan Society of Environmental Law Policy was held in Osaka, Japan. The meeting was organized by the Japan Society of Environmental Law Policy and hosted by Osaka University of Economics. More than 200 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes and practice departments from the Ministry of the Environment, Osaka Prefecture, Waseda University, Meiji University, Tohoku University, Keio University, Nagoya University, Osaka University, Kobe University, and China Southeast University attended the conference.
Associate Professor Liu Mingquan of our law school submitted a written paper to the conference and was invited to participate in this academic conference. In the second unit, a 20-minute oral report was given on the theme of environmental public interest litigation. Academic evaluation was conducted by Professor Hideki Kitagawa of Ryukoku University. Professor Jin Yizheng and other experts and scholars exchanged opinions. Associate Professor Liu Mingquan conducted in-depth exchanges with participating experts during the conference, which is conducive to expanding the college's environmental law academic influence and promoting the academic internationalization of the college.
It is reported that there are more than 400 regular members of the Japan Environmental Law Policy Institute, and Prof. Otsuka Toru, the Law Faculty of Waseda University, serves as the chairman. This academic conference is composed of five unit report meetings and forums. Each unit report will be conducted by four experts and four experts will each make a report. The forum will be discussed and evaluated by seven experts. The annual academic conference has become the top academic exchange activity in the field of environmental law in Japan.
