On December 13, 2018, Professor Li Buyun, one of the three most seniority legal experts in China, the member of the Honorary Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Guangdong Finance and Economics, was invited to deliver lecture entitled as What is human rights? at Southeast University School of Law. Professor Li used to be a doctoral supervisor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, China University of Political Science and Law, and Southwest University of Political Science and Law.
Professor Liu Yanhong, Dean of Southeast University School of Law hosted this lecture. Professor Liu introduced the academic research direction and achievements of Professor Li Buyun in detail, praising him as the “living fossil” for the development of the rule of law in New China.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Li Buyun cut through the historical perspective and introduced the background of the concept of human rights. Focusing on human rights, Professor Li detailed the subjects of human rights. Later, Professor Li highly summarized the importance of protecting human rights from five aspects. Finally, Professor Li Buyun explained the original prototype of the unconstitutional review system in China.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Zhou Youyong, Vice President of Southeast University and Professor of School of Law , expressed his gratitude to Mr. Li Buyun on behalf of Southeast University and School of Law that great contributions made by Professor Li to School of Law when just founded.
Professor Gong Xianghe, as a disciple of Professor Li Buyun, also deeply recalled the determination of his research direction when he was a student. Nowadays, the course of human rights law in Southeast University is not only for the doctoral masters but also for whole undergraduate. It cannot realize without the help of Professor Li Buyun in early days.
Professor Liu Yanhong once again thanked Professor Li Buyun. The lecture came to a successful conclusion in the applause of audience.
