On December 5, 2018, Associate Professor Liu Jianli was invited to deliver lecture in Japanese at the Waseda University in Japan. The theme of lecture was “The Status and Task of Legal Issues in Human Organ Transplantation in China”.
Around the theme, Associate Professor Liu Jianli introduced the status of human organ transplantation in China and the historical development of legal regulation concerned. He expounded the basic principles of human organ transplantation in China, the requirements and procedures for human organ donation and transplantation, the distribution system of human organs, and the punishment system. Associate Professor Liu also pointed out the problems related to brain death determination, to the scope of living organ donors, to the composition of ethics committees, and to the lack of organs, which need to be improved in the legal regulation of human organ transplantation further.
The lecture was hosted by Professor Ka Fik-ke, a director of Waseda University in Japan, and was open to all teachers and students of Waseda University. Many Japanese teachers and students came to participate. The atmosphere of the venue was warm. In the free questioning session, Associate Professor Liu Jianli had an in-depth interaction with the five Japanese teachers and a number of Japanese students on relevant issues. Associate Professor Liu Jianli’s lecture lasting for 2 hours in Japanese, was highly praised by Japanese teachers and students. The lecture was successfully concluded with warm applause.

The smooth progress of this event is not only a testimony to the strengthening of academic exchanges and cooperation between the two schools, but also a positive promotion of medical law team of our law school.
