The fifth edition of the Law Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Reading Conference was successfully held on May 10, 2019 at the Li Wenzhen Library of the Southeast University Jiulonghu Campus. The reading conference was hosted by Associate Researcher Xu Minchuan of the Law School. In addition, the reading conference invited Associate Professor Zhang Xiang from the Computer Science and Engineering School to discuss together.
First of all, Teacher Yang shared the main content of this book The Ultimate Algorithmwith the simple and clear language. At the reading session, Teacher Yang suggested that in the opinion of the author Domingos, all knowledge, whether past, present or future, may be obtained from the data through learning algorithms. At the end of the introduction, Teacher Yang concluded: applying a priori objective or subjective knowledge to form hypotheses, constructing logic, and then using data, probabilistic reasoning to make up for the loopholes in logic, and making inferences, this is what the ideal algorithm should look like.
Later, Professor Yang Jun, Associate Professor Zhang Xiang and Teacher Wang Lusheng shared their views and ideas in combination with their respective fields of expertise. Professor Yang Jun started from the content of the book; Associate Professor Zhang Xiang started from the various theories of the algorithm; Wang Lusheng shared the practical application of the algorithm in the judicial field, and pointed out that the application of judicial practice in the current stage has a high similarity with the medical field. During the conference, the participants spoke enthusiastically and shared their reading sentiments.
