The Moot Court is an important practical course in the Master of Laws program at Southeast University Law School. In order to cultivate the theoretical connection and practical ability of the graduates in law, on the morning of October 23, 2019, under the leadership of the teacher,Bu Bing, nearly 30 students of the law school gave a vivid practical class in the People's Court of Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone, learning about the court's filing, trial and other processes, participated in the auditing activities of the civil trials, and exchanged and interacted with the judges, so that students were exposed to the practice of judicial trials in China.
At 9:00 am on the same day, the students arrived at the Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone People's Court. Before the court, President Xia Zhiyang and Deputy Director Zhang Wei of the Executive Board warmly received the teachers and students. They first guided everyone to visit the court litigation service hall and introduced the people's court of Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone to provide convenient, efficient and low cost judicial servicesto the people, including online self-service filing ports, self-service inquiry ports and other service terminals, and the “Intelligent Dispute Pre-diagnosis” and “Intelligent Legal Advisory Service” adopted by the People’s Court of Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone.
After the visit, all the teachers and students listened to the trial of the case of “the plaintiff Xue Mou and the defendant Zhang and the dispute over liability of an asset management company in Jiangsu”. The summary procedure for applying the civil procedure in this case was handled by the judge, Zhang Yuqing, the vice-president. Under his auspices, the parties started the court's cross-examination and debate around the focus of the dispute. The whole process of the trial was simple, the stage was clear, the argument was sufficient, and the effect was good. After the trial, Xia Zhiyang and Zhang Yuqing, the vice president, also had in-depth exchanges with the students on the civil procedure, the burden of proof, the fact finding and the rules of law application.
The event made the students familiar with the civil litigation process in an intuitive way and effectively participated in the trial of real cases. After the event, everyone felt that the harvest was great, indicating that they would not only be better invested in theoretical knowledge, but also pay more attention to practice and strengthen their practical ability.
