At 8:00-18:00 on May 29, 2020, in response to the requirements of this year's epidemic prevention and control measures, the defense of the 20th master's degree thesis of administrative law in our hospital adopted the remote video defense mode. There are 10 postgraduate students participating in the defense, and the defense is held in the form of zoom conference software. The experts participating in the defense include Professor Xing Hongfei (Chairman of the defense), director Zhou Lianyong, senior partner of Jiangsu boshida law firm, Professor Meng Hongzhi, Professor Yu Lishen, Associate Professor Gu DASONG, Associate Professor Li Yuxing, associate professor Xiong Zhanglin, Associate Professor Liu Qichuan and associate professor Yang Jie. Mr. Dong Guozhen, Secretary of defense. Nearly 10 students attended.

According to the requirements of normative documents such as the measures for the management of the whole process of the quality of postgraduate dissertations in the school of law of Southeast University and the working methods of the quality steering group of postgraduate dissertations in the school of law of Southeast University, the whole process of the oral defense will be recorded, recorded and preserved, and the oral defense time of each student shall not be less than 50 minutes. The procedure flow is as follows: Professor Xing Hongfei, chairman of the defense committee, announces the composition of the Defense Committee and the list of secretaries. After the opening of the defense meeting, the tutor will briefly introduce the study and work of the students who are defending (5 minutes), each respondent will introduce papers (no less than 10 minutes), the members of the defense committee will put forward questions and the respondents will answer questions (no less than 30 minutes), the meeting will be adjourned, and the appraisal form of the Defense Committee Resolution (two thirds of the votes shall be deemed as the oral defense), and the chairman of the oral defense shall read out the voting results. The whole process is complete and continuous, and the defense video is not recorded and retained, which is legal and reasonable.

From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., a total of 10 master's students defended in an orderly manner. By secret ballot of experts, a total of 10 master's students successfully passed the defense. Among them, the following four students got excellent results in defense: Cai Mengqi, Wan Shiqi, Xu Mengdi and Li Jingwen. In the process of defense, the students introduce the thesis from the aspects of topic selection, background, innovation and confusion, which is logical and clear. The members of the defense group mainly ask questions around the sorting and differentiation of the basic concepts and theories of the thesis, and guide the students to realize that they attach importance to the sorting and differentiation of concepts and theories in the writing process of the thesis, so-called weak foundation and shaking ground. The professional and normative opinions of the defense group made the whole defense meeting focus on standardizing the paper paradigm and improving the quality and efficiency of the paper. The defense students all said that they benefited a lot, accepted the suggestions of the defense group modestly, and guaranteed to modify them carefully in combination with the suggestions of the defense group before the final submission of the paper.            

In order to strengthen the management of dissertation quality, our college has set up and implemented a three-level control system of tutor, thesis guidance group and college audit group. In late March of this year, we issued such normative documents as the measures for the management of the whole process of postgraduate dissertation quality of Southeast University Law School, the measures for the work of postgraduate Dissertation Quality Guidance Group of Southeast University Law School, etc., and have established and implemented the three-level control system of tutor, thesis guidance group and college audit group The professional direction has carried out the 2020 law school master's thesis guidance meeting to conduct the preliminary examination of all graduation students' thesis in the school before submission for examination. Strictly control the submission of papers for examination, and realize the system of all double-blind (all papers are hidden from the author's name and instructor's information, which are reviewed by experts outside the school) and the second submission for examination. This year, the quality of the papers that participated in the defense has been significantly improved, and has been unanimously recognized by the teachers. During the whole oral defense process, the members of the oral defense group asked the specific and in-depth answers, which not only showed the high professionalism of the members of the oral defense group, but also showed that the oral defense students are very familiar with the paper. It also expressed the careful setting of the oral defense process and the quality assurance of the oral defense paper, which showed that our school has achieved outstanding results in the quality management of Graduate Dissertation.

Through this oral defense, all the students benefited a lot from the methods of thesis writing and the suggestions of thesis improvement. At the end of the oral defense, the students and the members of the oral defense committee took photos by video. The high requirements and high standards of this video defense provide a model for the follow-up work of postgraduate defense and accumulate experience. So far, the oral defense meeting of the 2020 administrative law Master's degree thesis of Southeast University law school has been successfully concluded.
