On October 17, 2020, the inaugural meeting and the first theoretical symposium of the Criminology Research Society of Jiangsu Province, organized by the Jiangsu Province Law Society and undertaken by the Law School of Southeast University, was grandly held at Southeast University's Sipailou Campus. Leaders, experts and practitioners from Jiangsu Province CPPCC, Jiangsu Province Law Society, China Society of Criminology, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Jiangsu Province Prison Administration, Jiangsu Province People's Procuratorate, Jiangsu Province Public Security Department, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Suzhou University, Nanjing Normal University, Shanghai Institute of Politics and Law, Nanjing University of Technology and other institutions and universities attended the meeting.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by President Liu Yanhong of our academy. The opening ceremony was divided into five sessions: preparatory report, election, voting, speech of the new president of the Institute, speech of the leadership of the Chinese Society of Criminology, speech of the leadership of the Jiangsu Provincial Law Society, etc.

Associate Professor Qian Xiaoping introduced the specific preparations of the Criminology Research Society of Jiangsu Provincial Law Society since January 2020 in the preparatory report section.

In the voting session, Prof. Ouyang Benqi was elected as the president of the Society of Criminology of Jiangsu Province Law Society. In his speech, Prof. Ouyang expressed his gratitude to the society on behalf of the Criminological Society of Jiangsu Province for its support, and emphasized that the Criminological Society of Jiangsu Province should take up the arduous task.

Prof. Ouyang Benqi presided over the second session of the conference, which included the awarding of prizes. President Liu Yanhong participated in the awarding of the first prize.

The third part of the conference is the theoretical seminar session, which is divided into three topics. Prof. Li Chuan of our school gave a keynote speech in the second topic of the seminar. Prof. Li Chuan started from the issue of adjusting the age of criminal responsibility, and introduced the issue of accommodating and rehabilitating minors who are not criminally responsible, the legislative process of the reform of the Law on the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and the application of existing laws. He also pointed out that we should seize the good opportunity of the Amendment (XI) to the Criminal Law to actively carry out the research on the transformation of specialized education and correctional treatment.

Dr. Liu Shuangyang of our school participated in the second topic. Firstly, he pointed out the difficulties encountered in the judicial treatment of minors in conflict with the law; secondly, he pointed out the specific problems in the current judicial practice and suggested that the concept of two-way protection based on the concept of restorative justice should be introduced; lastly, he suggested that the mechanism should embody the protection and disciplinary mechanism, waiver and transfer mechanism, and negotiation and compensation mechanism.

Dr. Wen Shi and Dr. Ruihua Li spoke on the third topic. Dr. Wen Shi pointed out that Internet enterprises are facing serious risks of data security crimes in recent years, and that only through active prevention can Internet enterprises survive the crisis.

By introducing extraterritorial theories, Dr. Li designed a seminar on Criminal Attributes and Criminal Factors Analysis of Corporate Crime Cases, Compliance-Related Corporate Crime Scenarios and Crime Patterns, The Impact of Corporate Internal Management Rules on Corporate Data Security, and The Impact of Corporate Internal Management Rules on Corporate Data Security. The last session of the conference was the concluding session, in which Prof. Qian Xiaoping, Associate Professor of our school, gave a concluding speech.

The last item of the conference was the wrap-up session. Associate Professor Qian Xiaoping of our school made a concluding speech. He pointed out that the integration of living forces in the practical departments of crime prevention, punishment and correction in this conference has provided the impetus and guarantee for the long-term development of the society. This thematic seminar further promoted the theoretical research of criminology and better exerted its guiding effect on practice. The establishment of the Criminological Research Society of Jiangsu Provincial Law Society represents that the research of criminology in Jiangsu Province has entered a new stage, and has also created a new situation for the research of criminology in China. Through in-depth discussions on crime prevention and social governance, juvenile delinquency, corporate criminal compliance and other fields, the first theoretical symposium provided a theoretical path for solving the hotspot issues of criminology in the process of China's rule of law, highlighting the strength and influence of the Criminology Research Society of Jiangsu Province Law Society in academic research.
