On October 17, 2020, Prof. Li Xiaoming, Professor of Wang Jian Law School of Soochow University and head of criminal law doctoral program, was invited to give a lecture on The relationship between criminology and criminal law and its future transformation at Southeast University Law School. The lecture was attended by more than one hundred students of our school.
Professor Li firstly elaborated on the definitions of criminology and criminal law and pointed out that criminology and criminal law are not opposed to each other. As for the future transformation and development of criminology, Professor Li believed that criminological research should shift from empty theoretical disciplinary system to practical research; from closed crime data to open crime data; from basic theoretical thinking to philosophical thinking; from individual and group mixing to group-oriented; from cause-oriented to law-oriented.
The whole lecture was clear and informative, and won the warm applause of the students and teachers. Professor Li Xiaoming's lecture on the relationship between criminology and criminal law was incisive, profound and eloquent, and his unique views on related issues provided students with new ideas to deeply know and understand criminology, and brought a rich academic feast for teachers and students. The lecture was a resounding success.
