On October 24-25, 2020, Prof. Benqi Ouyang and Associate Prof. Yunbao Liang were invited to participate in the symposium on New Issues in Criminal Law and Rule of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Criminal Law Key Discipline and Innovation Engineering Forum (2020). Leaders from the Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate and Zhejiang Provincial People's Procuratorate, as well as more than one hundred scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, China University of Political Science and Law, Central South University of Economics and Law, Southeast University and other universities and research institutions attended the symposium.
Professor Liu Renwen, Director of the Criminal Law Research Office of the Institute of Legal Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Head of the Key Discipline of Criminal Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony and keynote speech of the symposium, and Professor Jiang Wei, Vice President of the Supreme People's Court, Chen Guoqing, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Professor Chu Huaizhi of Peking University, Professor Chen Zexian, former Director of the Institute of National Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Executive Vice President of the Chinese Society of Criminal Law, delivered speeches to open the new topic of criminal rule of law from different angles.
The seminar was specifically based on Discussion on the Eleventh (Draft) Amendment to the Criminal Law, Criminal Governance in the Context of Epidemic Prevention and Control, Epidemic Prevention and Control and Application of Criminal Law. Criminal law system of new cybercrimes, Big data, artificial intelligence and criminal law, Intersection of criminal law and criminal justice and Penal integration Prof. Ouyang Benqi and Associate Prof. Liang Yunbao were invited to give lectures on The Reasonable Regulation of Rumors in Criminal Law during Major Epidemic and On the 'Restoration of Ecological Environment' in China in the second and seventh modules respectively. The presentation of Positioning in Criminal Law. The speeches of the two teachers were fully recognized by the experts and scholars present.
At a time when the Xinguan epidemic is sweeping the world and our country has achieved significant results in epidemic prevention and control, one of the important contents of this conference is to address the related criminal governance and application of criminal law, and the experts and scholars attending the conference focused on this topic has great theoretical and practical significance. At the same time, other topics of the conference are of distinctive contemporary nature, and the results of the discussion are of great value to the relevant criminal legislation and justice.
