Our Doctoral Student Won the Second Prize of the 5th National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in Criminal Law

On October 24, 2020, the Fifth National Award for Outstanding Doctoral Theses in Criminal Law was held in Beijing. After the evaluation of the jury, there are no vacancies for the special prize, 6 first prizes and 12 second prizes. Wei Chao, a PhD student in criminal law under the supervision of Prof. Liu Yanhong, won the second prize of the Fifth National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in Criminal Law for his article The Justification of Aggressive Emergency Avoidance and its Application.

It aims to inherit and carry forward the firm belief and academic spirit of the old generation of criminal law scholars, such as Prof. Gao Mingxuan and Prof. Mark Chang, in advocating the rule of law, dedicating to jurisprudence and pioneering innovation, to reward and encourage young talents in criminal law, and to promote the in-depth development of criminal law research in China, which is widely representative and authoritative.

The second prize awarded to Wei Chao, a PhD graduate, is closely related to the education and training of Southeast University Law School and the careful guidance of Professor Liu Yanhong. This award will also inspire our doctoral students to follow the steps of brother Wei Chao, pursue the academic path, continue to grow under the leadership of excellent supervisors, become a dynamic force in our school, and contribute their own strength to the prosperity of Southeast Law and even Chinese jurisprudence.
