In the afternoon of April 6, 2021, the Career Guidance Center of Southeast University held an in-depth departmental seminar (special session of the Law School) in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Law School at Jiulong Lake Campus of Southeast University. Deputy Director of Student Affairs Office and Director of Career Guidance Center Mr. Song Jiangang, Career Guidance Center Mr. Zhang Duoliang, Mr. Gu Qingyao, Mr. Ding Han and Mr. Xue Yufeng went to the college for guidance. The meeting was hosted by Liu Qichuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the Law School. Fei Qianqian, the undergraduate counselor of the Law School, and Guo Zongyu, the graduate counselor, participated in the discussion and exchange.
The meeting consisted of four sessions, namely, the speech of Liu Qichuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the Law School, the speech of Song Jiangang, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department and Director of the Career Guidance Center, the mapping of the employment situation of the 2021 class of the Law School, and the discussion of the problems in the employment promotion work of the Law School.
First of all, Vice Dean Liu Qichuan delivered a welcome speech. He said that this meeting was held under the background of the national decision of stabilizing employment and preserving employment and the enhancement of the overall employment requirements of the University for the 2021 graduates, which has important guidance and practical significance. The college will take this symposium as an opportunity to make concerted efforts to ensure good employment and good jobs for the graduates of the class of 2021.
In the second session, Mr. Song Jiangang, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Department and Director of Career Guidance Center, analyzed the overall situation of employment and graduate school this year. At the same time, Mr. Song pointed out that under the current situation, firstly, we should attach great importance to the employment work of students and do a good job in the sustainable development of the school. Secondly, we should guide graduates to change their employment concept and promote multi-channel employment. Thirdly, we should carry out support work for students with employment difficulties and make full use of our own resources to provide employment support for the helpers.
In the third session, Ms. Qianqian Fei and Ms. Zongyu Guo, counselors of the Law School, introduced the basic employment situation of the 2021 graduates of the Law School. Ms. Fei Qianqian pointed out that most of the undergraduates chose to pursue master's degree, while the employment choices of other undergraduates were mainly in the direction of transfer students and civil service examinations. Guo Zongyu introduced the basic employment situation of the 2021 master graduates of the law school. He believed that under the influence of the epidemic background, most of the students' employment intentions are more conservative, and the employment choices are focused on civil service examination, and students are more inclined to try to apply for other employment positions on the basis of having one employment choice.
In the fourth session, Ms. Fei Qianqian said that, combining the actual situation of undergraduate and master graduates, there are three main problems in the employment of the 2021 graduates of the Law School: firstly, the number of liberal arts positions is low; secondly, the impact of the epidemic on employment has not yet been eliminated, and students have less room for choice; thirdly, students have slight anxiety psychologically when choosing a job. Director Song Jiangang introduced the relevant initiatives, experiences and practices carried out by the faculty to promote employment in the context of the work of the Career Guidance Center of Southeast University. He emphasized that the college should, firstly, establish a comprehensive employment information publicity channel. In terms of employment information and employment policy publicity, the college can rely on WeChat public number, microblog and other network platforms to simultaneously carry out employment publicity and deliver employment information to graduates at the first time. In addition, the college can hold special lectures and interview activities to improve the employment success rate of students. Second, we should carry out various forms of employment guidance activities. The law school can invite counterparts to the school to conduct special job fairs and invite business leaders, lawyers and judges to the school to conduct exchange activities. Third, we should enhance the practical teaching link and improve the application ability. The college can actively join with law firms, courts, prosecutors, etc. to establish several off-campus teaching and training bases, actively recommend students to carry out professional internships in off-campus training bases, strive to solve employment in internships, and achieve the goal of promoting employment with internships.
In the next step, our college will carefully sort out the relevant problems analyzed in this meeting, promptly adopt the feedback from the Career Guidance Center, pay great attention to the development of high-quality and full employment of our graduates, solve the difficulties and problems encountered by students in the employment process with attentive and careful work and services, build a whole process, refined and personalized employment guidance and service system, effectively achieve the employment service continuous, and escort the employment process for the 2021 graduates.
