In 2021, the Communist Party of China will celebrate its centennial birthday. The International Symposium on The Communist Party of China and the Progress of Human Rights in China, organized by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and the Propaganda Department of the Jilin Provincial Committee and hosted by Jilin University, was held in Changchun on April 8. Professor Gong Xianghe, Executive Vice President of the Human Rights Research Institute of Southeast University (National Human Rights Education and Training Base) and Professor of the Law School, doctoral students Zhang Songyun and Song Fan and master student Jiang Ying were invited to participate in this conference.

More than 100 guests participated in this international seminar, including the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Health Commission and other governmental and party organs, as well as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Egypt, Singapore and other countries and international organizations. In the second session of the conference, Putting People at the Center: The Theory and Practice of Human Rights in China, Professor Gong Xianghe, Executive Vice President of the Institute of Human Rights of Southeast University, delivered a keynote speech entitled The Right to a Good Life: Human Rights Orientation for Building a Well-off Society. The speech focused on three aspects: (1) the conceptualization of the right to a good life: the value condensation of building a well-off society; (2) the clarification of the content of the right to a good life: the human rights expression of building a well-off society; (3) the realization path of the right to a good life: the institutional guarantee of building a well-off society.

Professor Gong Xianghe believes that the right to good living is an overall concept consisting of rights in all aspects of human life, and the specific goals of building a well-off society are the policy path interpretation of the right to good living; each right in the right to good living system corresponds to the specific goals of building a well-off society, and the content of the right to good living is consistent with the goals of building a well-off society, and the right to good living is the human rights expression of building a well-off society. On April 9, PhD students Zhang Songyun and Song Fan and master student Jiang Ying were invited to participate in the First Postgraduate Forum on Human Rights of Jilin University in 2021 and made presentations on the theme of The Origin, Historical Evolution and Realization Mechanism of the Communist Party of China's Thought on the Right to Livelihood, The Compound Model and Rule of Law Path to Promote the Technology of the Right to Livelihood and Building a Human Rights Discourse System of Chinese Specialties in the New Era with the Right to Development as the Core.

In this seminar, experts and scholars discussed in depth and exchanged frankly, summarized and refined their experiences on the development of human rights ideology and practical exploration in the 100 years since the founding of the Communist Party of China, emphasized the human rights contributions of the Communist Party of China in its century-long history, stressed the importance of interpreting the human rights philosophy, human rights discourse, human rights protection model, human rights experience and path of the Communist Party of China, and reached a broad consensus.
