On July 20, 2021, the Nanjing New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Command issued a notice that 9 positive samples were detected in the regular nucleic acid testing samples of staff at Lukou International Airport. The Working Group on Prevention and Control of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia responded to the requirements of the Nanjing New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Command, held an emergency meeting, issued the Notice of the Working Group on Prevention and Control of Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic of Southeast University, and conducted the first and second nucleic acid tests for all staffs to guard the East University Gate for the anti-epidemic work. The first and second nucleic acid tests were carried out to guard the epidemic.
Faced with the sudden outbreak of the epidemic, students of the College of Law actively responded to the call of the university and the college, and actively participated in the battle against the epidemic with their practical actions, building a great wall against the epidemic with their youthful strength. Zhu Xuehan, a master's degree student from Class 19, Wang Chenwen, a master's degree student from Class 20, and Huang Haozhi, a master's degree student from Class 21, served as volunteers in nucleic acid testing in communities and schools as well as in screening people returning to their hometowns, and stepped forward in the front line of fighting the epidemic, practicing the mission of youth with their practical actions. After experiencing the work of fighting the epidemic, the students of the Law School have different feelings and thoughts, and their words reflect the spirit of our students who dare to take responsibility in front of the urgent and difficult tasks. Let's go into the unforgettable time of fighting against the epidemic with them.
I was in front of the epidemic
01 Zhu Xuehan (Master's student of Class 19)
At 19:15 on July 24, 2021, after seeing the recruitment order for young volunteers for nucleic acid testing issued by the university, I immediately filled out the application form; in less than 20 minutes, the registration quota of 350 people was full.
At about 23:35, the second group of volunteers in my group arrived at the site to hand over the work to the first group of volunteers. I was assigned as a volunteer guide for the testing, mainly responsible for guiding students, faculty and staff who came for sampling and assisting in sampling. As a guide volunteer, I had to divide the students and teachers who came for sampling into teams of ten people, record the sampling code in advance, inform the location of the departure site, emphasize the one-meter spacing between the lines, and quickly run to lead each ten-person team to the testing site when the flag in the hands of the site dispatcher was raised to indicate that a certain testing team could change personnel. The three hours of continuous standing, talking and running also made everyone's physical strength drop rapidly, but more than that, it was the joy of ensuring the speed of testing and the sense of accomplishment of cooperating well with the medical staff and doing a good job of service support for the fight against the epidemic with practical actions. With the cooperation of teachers and students, the enthusiasm and positive efforts of the person in charge and volunteers on site, this round of nucleic acid testing was completed in less than five hours for three batches of more than 14,000 people across the university, showing the good appearance of volunteers of Dongda University and our Dongda speed.
Many people were in the long queue of nucleic acid sampling one minute, but joined the volunteers to start their work the next. In the face of the epidemic, everyone is making a contribution to the city, and as party activists, we should stand out, take the lead, and be in the forefront. Let the party flag fly in the front line, the party emblem shine in the front line.
The one who wants the same thing above and below wins, and the one who is in the same boat wins. We believe that we can overcome the epidemic together with one heart.
02 Wang Chenwen (Master's student of Class 20)
On the evening of July 21, volunteers were recruited to help with nucleic acid testing and personnel screening in Meixin District, Yuhuatai District, Nanjing. Currently, the spread of the epidemic in Nanjing is still unknown, and the first round of nucleic acid testing in the city is probably the most dangerous round ......
My parents didn't agree to go, but I really wanted to do my part for Nanjing, and now I think I was a little apprehensive and scared when I finished the application.
I woke up at 6:00 am to prepare for the community prevention work, and by 7:00 am when the community volunteers gathered for this one hour, my mood was tinged with apprehension and a sense of sanctity at the same time. This was an experience I could not forget and a responsibility I could not shirk.
From 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, more than 200 people were tested at the window I was in charge of. Although the volunteers changed shifts every 2 hours, we basically did not take a break in the middle of the shift due to the lack of manpower. I didn't have time to eat at noon, and from 13:00 to 16:00, I finished the testing work of more than 300 people; until 17:00 in the evening, the testing work came to an end; I ate dinner very haphazardly, and I don't remember the details. 17:00 pm to 23:00 pm is the peak of the detection, we completed more samples than the previous stages, I can not remember the details ......
For 16 hours, no one slacked off during the whole process because there were doctors from Nanjing Brain Hospital who came to support us, they were in Jiangning yesterday and in the city today, so it was really hard; I didn't say a word about hard work, I didn't feel tired; until the end of 23:00, when I returned the red vest to the volunteer center, I felt an ache rushing up my body.
It was a heartfelt experience. The resurgence of the epidemic in Nanjing touched everyone's heartstrings. I am a Nanjinger, I love Nanjing, and I want to do my part. This is something that any university student would do without thinking too much about it. Wherever I am needed, I will go, and this should be the belief of every young person. Finally, thanks again to the medical staff and all the volunteers for their hard work, Nanjing will be safe!
03 Haozhi Huang (Master's student, Class of '21)
The sudden notification of the epidemic broke the plans and arrangements, the pleasure and tranquility of this summer vacation. I participated in the nucleic acid testing support work at the testing site of Shimenkan Community Youth Palace in Qinhuai District, and have completed two rounds of full testing work so far.
As a test recipient, I saw the community workers resolutely implementing the testing requirements on a hot day without shouting a word of hard work; as a party member, I saw the Initiative Letter to Communist Party Members in the City issued by the Nanjing Municipal Committee and responded to the call of the Municipal Committee to join the front line of epidemic prevention; as a native Nanjinger, I received concerns from my classmates and friends from overseas. At this time, I was deeply saddened. I knew I should do something to protect my hometown and to take up my mission and responsibility as a party member.
In the two times I assisted in the testing work, I felt satisfied and fulfilled despite the pressure: being in the front line of the epidemic, I contributed my part in guarding this landscape; as a member of the youth, I accumulated work experience and exercised my ability to deal with this epidemic in Nanjing; more importantly, as a Communist Party member, I fulfilled my duties as a Party member and joined the Red Sea.
As Sun Tzu said, The one who wants to win is the one who wants to win. All the people of Nanjing, unite! Let's fight together to win the Battle of Nanjing against the epidemic in this new era!
The battle against the epidemic will be won
In this sudden outbreak of the epidemic, the students of the Law School, with the belief that all will become one, are protecting themselves, serving the society, taking responsibility for themselves and the country, and undertaking the mission of the times that young students should take on. We believe that the clouds will clear soon, and we hope our country will be more beautiful in the future.
