In the afternoon of November 17, 2022, the special meeting of young teachers for the Great Discussion on Educational Ideology was successfully held in the Faculty of Law. The meeting was hosted by Party Secretary Mao Huixi, and all members of the leadership team and more than 30 post-80s young teachers attended the discussion.

Secretary Mao Huixi firstly gave a report on the theme of Adhering to moral education and cultivating leading talents. He shared the report of the 20th National Congress that education, science and technology, and talents are the basic and strategic support for building a modern socialist country, and that we should adhere to the priority development of education, self-sustainability of science and technology, and leadership of talents to accelerate the building of a strong country in education, science and technology, and talents. He insisted on nurturing people for the Party and the country, comprehensively improving the quality of independent training of talents, and making efforts to create top-notch innovative talents. He said that Southeast University, as the national team of higher education, should fully understand the mission of nurturing people for the Party and talent for the country, further implement the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral character, strive to cultivate socialist successors, cultivate the overall development of moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic talents, and be a leading force for national rejuvenation. He stressed that teachers are the foundation of education. He emphasized that teachers are the foundation of education and the source of education. As young teachers of Southeast University, they should take the Ten Rules of Professional Conduct for Teachers in Universities in the New Era as the standard, follow the requirements of Four Good Teachers proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, firmly establish the ideals and beliefs of socialism with Chinese characteristics, take the lead in practicing the core values of socialism, and consciously enhance their ability to teach. After that, the young teachers shared their experiences in studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress and their own teaching, research and growth and development, and put forward positive suggestions such as guiding students to establish the correct learning purpose and eliminating utilitarianism, teachers should keep the bottom line in teaching quality, and hoping that the university can have more support for teaching in the system design. They also focused on the confusion, opinions and suggestions about the university's lecture competition, the rules and regulations of title evaluation, the declaration of National Social Science Foundation projects, the introduction of talents, the assessment policy of young teachers, the guidance of students' participation and the cultivation of cross-disciplinary graduate students, etc. They had an in-depth exchange and communication.

President Ouyang Benqi said that young teachers are the main body of the college and the future of the college development. When the youth is strong, the country is strong. Young teachers should think more about how to improve their ability and level around the development needs of the country and the development trend of the discipline, and integrate the thinking into teaching and research. Students are the masters and the objects of our service. Without students, our work loses its content and value. Students are children, we should think about how to love students, think what students think, be anxious about what students are anxious about, and respond to what students need. Students are partners, teaching and learning together, teachers and students complement each other and achieve each other.
