On November 8, 2022, at 4:00 p.m., a symposium on the operation of the Southeast University Collected Journal was held at the Durian Garden Hotel in Nanjing. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ouyang Benqi, Dean of Southeast University Law School, Prof. Wang Haobin, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Nanjing University (Philosophy-Humanities-Social Sciences), Prof. Gu Jinchun, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Nantong University (Social Sciences Edition), Prof. Xu Jia, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Southeast University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), Prof. Wang Lusheng, Director of Social Sciences Department of Southeast University, Prof. Xiong Zhanglin, Vice Dean of Law School, College of Humanities Prof. Tan Jizun, Prof. Pang Junlai, and members of the editorial board of Southeast Jurisprudence and Ethical Studies participated in the discussion.

He pointed out that academic journals are an important support for academic research and an important carrier of academic communication, and it is necessary to further strengthen communication and cooperation among journals to create a good platform for exchange of experience in running journals. We hope to take this symposium as an opportunity to focus on how to improve the quality and academic leadership of academic journals, consolidate and enhance the advantages of journals, and contribute to the accelerated construction of China's independent knowledge system.

On behalf of the Journal of Southeast University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), Professor Xu Jia welcomed the experts present, and then put forward the relevant opinions on the operation of the journal from the perspectives of journal development and discipline construction. He pointed out that the journal should be standardized, innovative and leading, find the right positioning, highlight the characteristics of the journal, and give full play to the platform of the journal to help discipline construction and academic research.

Prof. Wang Lusheng introduced the achievements of Southeast University's humanities and social science bases and cross-discipline construction, and affirmed the achievements of Southeast Law and Ethics Research, and pointed out on this basis that the journal should always adhere to academic innovation, respect the law of academic development, set up a unique journal direction, and pay attention to the exchange and interaction between the journal and the journals and between the journal and the journals to form a win-win situation of cooperation and development of academic journals. On behalf of the editorial department of Southeast Jurisprudence, Prof. Xiong Zhanglin made a general report on the foundation and development, current situation and problems, as well as needs and prospects of Southeast Jurisprudence. He pointed out that the journal is the public instrument of the world and carries an important mission for the development of the academy and the college. Since its establishment in 2008, Southeast Jurisprudence has always adhered to its original intention and achieved breakthroughs, and was selected as a CSSCI source journal in 2021, but at the same time, it also faces various problems in terms of journal positioning, publication approval and manuscript quality, etc. It is hoped that in the process of running the journal in the future, it will highlight the characteristics of the journal, enhance the leadership of hot topics and effectively play a role in the development of the journal. We hope that in the future, we can highlight the characteristics of the journal, enhance the leading degree of hot topics, and effectively play the function of academic journals to promote theoretical innovation and practice leadership.

On behalf of the editorial board of Ethics Research, Prof. Pang Junlai gave a brief report from four aspects: history, philosophy, current plan and future development. He pointed out that with the belief of exploring and working for the cause of Chinese philosophy and ethics, Ethical Studies has been developing and progressing with the support of many famous scholars, not only facing the major and hot issues of society, but also actively taking care of theoretical thinking. In the future, the Journal of Ethical Studies will be based on Chinese issues and Chinese practice, and will strive to become a journal of exchange and dialogue with the world academic development, so as to truly realize the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese people's morality in the dialogue of civilizations.

After listening to the report, Prof. Wang Haobin considered that both journals have made progress in terms of form and content and have made great achievements in recent years. He emphasized that the collection should pay attention to the standardization of the journal, and the journal needs a more standardized platform to support the expansion of academic influence. In addition, Prof. Wang Haobin made constructive comments and targeted suggestions on the difficult and painful issues in running the journal.

Professor Gu Jinchun fully affirmed the achievements of the two journals and pointed out that the journals have the advantage of strong professionalism and should optimize the setting of cutting-edge columns to give better play to this advantage, which is not only necessary to highlight the characteristics of the journals, but also the key to expand the influence of the journals. At the same time, the journal should also pay attention to the concept of opening doors to ensure the breadth and diversity of manuscript sources, so as to gradually improve the quality of manuscripts and contribute to the long-term development of the journal.

Prof. Ouyang Benqi summarized the meeting and expressed his gratitude to the experts again. He emphasized that the editorial team of the journal will actively summarize and incorporate the valuable opinions from the experts into the future process of running the journal.

The successful holding of this symposium not only promoted the improvement of the journal of Southeast University, but also enhanced the exchange of experience among the journals. In the future, the journal of Southeast University will absorb the opinions and suggestions of many people, achieve high-quality development, and make contributions to the construction of philosophy and social science with Chinese characteristics.
