On the morning of July 10, 2024, Professor Wang Lusheng, Associate Professor Xu Minchuan, Associate Professor Yang Jie, Professor Wang Yuan, Professor Bi Sheng, and Postdoctoral Fellow Gong Shanyao from the Digital Law Team of Southeast University Law School went to Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Smart Justice Research Institute for research in order to learn from and draw on the valuable experience of high-quality development of digital law disciplines in sister universities. Professor Yang Li, Executive Vice Dean and Director of the Smart Justice Laboratory at the Smart Justice Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Xu Jianfeng, Distinguished Professor and Chief Designer of Smart Justice at Kaiyuan Law School, and Associate Professor He Hao from the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, received the research team.

The research symposium was chaired by Professor Yang Li. The meeting first watched the introduction video of the Smart Justice Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University together. The Smart Justice Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a school level entity research institution jointly established under the guidance of the Supreme People's Court, relying on institutions such as the Kaiyuan Law School and the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It focuses on the theoretical sources of smart justice with Chinese characteristics, promotes the generalization and empowerment of judicial artificial intelligence in key areas, and innovates interdisciplinary digital law industry university research application and talent training models. It has achieved good research results and accumulated valuable construction experience.

Professors Xu Jianfeng and Yang Li welcomed the visit of Professor Wang Lusheng and his delegation. Professor Yang Li further introduced the construction and system achievements of the Smart Justice Research Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as well as the basic positioning, construction characteristics, application of achievements, and industrial incubation of the institute. Professor Xu Jianfeng shared valuable experience on the top-level design of artificial intelligence judicial applications, the construction of smart court brain, the development of judicial big models, and the joint innovation mechanism of industry university research and application.

Professor Wang Lusheng introduced the construction progress and achievements of the digital law team at Southeast University since its establishment at the meeting, and highly appreciated Shanghai Jiao Tong University's scientific research and development in the field of smart justice, as well as its industry university research achievements. Professor Wang Lusheng stated that this research has yielded fruitful results and hopes that the two institutions can further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future.

At the meeting, both sides also had in-depth exchanges and shared valuable experiences on the construction of humanities laboratories, organizational support for scientific research teams, cultivation of digital legal talents, application of achievements, and industrial incubation. In this survey, the team conducted on-site observations of the construction of the Smart Justice Laboratory at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, fully understanding the potential problems faced by the forefront construction and sustainable development of smart justice, and forming a deeper understanding of the intersection of law and cutting-edge technology research and talent cultivation.
